Baylor to Host Senior High Band and Orchestra Camp

May 22, 1997

The Baylor University School of Music will hold its annual Senior High Band and Orchestra Camp June 1-7 in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
"Registration is booming this year," said Barry Hopper, associate professor of instrumental studies and camp director. More than 300 students are expected to attend.
The camp is open to all students entering grades 10-12 in the fall of 1997. The camp offers a unique experience for high school students because they are given university grade training by Baylor professors, Hopper said.
Morning and afternoon activities include ensemble rehearsals, sectionals and master class lessons. Afternoon recreation will follow with opportunities for swimming, bowling and tennis. Canoeing and paddle boating will be offered at the Baylor Marina.
Camp activities will conclude with a Grand Concert at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Jones Concert Hall of the Glennis McCrary Music Building. The concert is free and open to the public.
The camp fee is $275, which includes tuition, housing, meals and activities.
