Baylor to Honor Texas Family Businesses for Community Values in Annual Awards Program

WACO, Texas (Oct. 31, 2016) – Baylor University’s Institute for Family Business (IFB) will honor the 2016 Texas Family Business of the Year Award winners and finalists at an awards banquet at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Meyer Conference Center in the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, home of the Hankamer School of Business.

The awards program – now in its 27th year – recognizes outstanding firms whose families demonstrate a commitment to each other, to business continuity and to the needs of their employees, community and industry.

“The Institute for Family Business is excited about our cohort of award winners,” said William Worthington IV, Ph.D., IFB director. “The IFB is in its 27th year of celebrating family businesses in Texas and these firms have risen above the crowd by demonstrating the strength and wonder that merging family with business can create.”

This year’s winners are:
• Small Family Business of the Year – Son Beverage Company – San Antonio
• Medium Family Business of the Year – The Nitsche Group – Giddings
• Large Family Business of the Year – Dalworth Group – Euless
• Community Commitment Award – Stewart Family Orthodontics – Weatherford
• Family Values Award – Pointwest Bank – West
• Stewardship Award – Cole Health – Spring
• Fastest-Growing Award – Focus Behavioral Associates – Robinson
• Well-Managed Award – First Place Foods, LLC – Garland
• Founders Award – Diamond C Trailers – Mt. Pleasant
• Heritage Award – Don Hewlett Chevrolet Buick, Inc. – Georgetown
• Young/New Business Award – Lilly Jade, LLC – San Antonio

Finalists are H&R Mfg. and Supply, Inc. (Willis) and Kemp & Sons General Services (Fort Worth).

Through the Texas Family Business of the Year program and other activities, the Institute for Family Business promotes the tenets of Firm-Family-Faith on a global scale while providing a forum for the development and dissemination of information relevant to the health and continuity of family businesses.

Other educational and planning programs available to family business owners through the Institute include special interest seminars and entrepreneurship training classes that encourage all to “Put faith back on the table.”

In conjunction with the Texas Family Business of the Year Awards, IFB will host its 2016 Fall Forum at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 in Rooms 143 and 144 of the Foster Campus. Gil A. Stricklin, founder of Marketplace Ministries International, will speak on “Building Your Business on a Firm Foundation.”
