Church Conflict Subject of Conference On May 6

May 1, 1997

Church leaders will discuss conflict within the church from 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, in Room 103 of the First Baptist Church in Waco during the Baylor University Continuing Education for Church and Denominational Leaders Conference.

The Ministry Guidance program of the Baylor Department of Religion will co-sponsor the conference with the George W. Truett Theological Seminary. The conference will focus on helping participants spot potential conflict in the church and develop skills in congregational conflict resolution.

William Treadwell Jr., minister of education at First Baptist Church in Waco, will lead the conference. Treadwell has co-authored two books on creative church management and has served as a conflict management consultant for churches of several denominations. In June, Treadwell will assume the role of associate professor of Christian Education and Leadership/Administration at Truett Seminary where he currently serves as an adjunct professor.
