Hansen Quadruplets to Graduate From Baylor May 17

April 29, 1997

WACO, Texas -- A unique event in Baylor University history will take place when four identical sisters, the Hansen Quadruplets, receive their diplomas together during commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in the Ferrell Center.
Originally from San Antonio, the sisters were born within 15 minutes of each other on Oct. 24, 1974.
Alison, Brooke, Claire and Darcy Hansen have maintained academic excellence while at Baylor. Each is fluent in Spanish and German. Each of the sisters has at least a 3.5 grade-point average and all have pursued majors with an international flavor. Alison is a journalism and Spanish double major, Brooke is an international business and marketing double major, Claire is a journalism major with a concentration in international communications and public relations and Darcy is a journalism major with a Spanish minor.
The Hansens have appeared on numerous television shows, among them "The Tonight Show," "Regis and Kathy Lee," "Maury Povich" and "Rolonda." They have been featured in commercials for Coca-Cola, Jack in the Box, Southwest Medical Hospital, the Mexican Tourist Bureau and many others.
Although the quadruplets have not set long-term career goals, each plans to attend graduate school. Claire recently received a Fulbright scholarship to study the media in Austria. Alison is a finalist for a Fulbright in Spain. But for the first time in their lives, the sisters will not be living near each other.
"At first, I think I will feel some sense of relief," Alison said. "But as time passes, I'll realize that it was nice to have my sisters down the street. The great thing about same-age sisters is that there is always someone to talk to."
"I think the years at Baylor have given us the education to go our own ways," Darcy said. "Now, the 'Quad' era ends, and the individual era begins.
