WACO, Texas (May 25, 2016) — Imaginate, an interactive summer exhibit focused on encouraging innovation and imagination, will open at the Mayborn Museum Complex on May 28 and run through Sept. 5.

The exhibit is designed for children of all ages and includes 20 stations that challenge visitors’ creativity and allow them to experiment and test their designs.

Each station in the Imaginate exhibit follows one of five themes: Dream Big; Expect the Unexpected; Collaborate or Compete; Try, Try and Try Again; or Look to the World. Each theme represents a different pathway to innovation and encourages visitors to experiment, observe and be creative in a different way.

One station presents several sets of instructions on how to make paper airplanes and encourages visitors to test their designs to see which can fly the farthest. Another syncs lights and sounds to visitors’ heartbeats, and another allows attendees to record stop-motion films. Children can make art and music at other stations, or try on wings to see if they can flap as quickly as a bird.

“This exhibition allows visitors to imagine, discover and create in an environment that combines creativity with science,” said Charlie Walter, director of the Mayborn Museum Complex. “Imaginate is a fun, highly interactive exhibition that highlights the skills essential for innovation.”

The exhibit will be held in the Thomas E. and Emilyne Weed Anding Traveling Exhibition Gallery.
Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for children and free for museum members and Baylor students. Tickets grant access to Imaginate and the museum as a whole.

A discounted price of $5 per person will be offered on opening weekend, May 28-May 30.

In conjunction with Imaginate, Mayborn Museum will offer a surprise event once a week through the end of July. For more information, contact the Mayborn Museum Complex at 254-710-1110 or visit its website
