Fort Worth Residents Win Third in National Mock Trial Competition

WACO, Texas -- Fort Worth residents Brad Beckworth and Jason Stephens recently won third place in the National Mock Trial Competition in Houston.
The Baylor University Mock Trial Team composed of Beckworth, Stephens and Leigh Campbell of Tyler, lost a 3-2 semi-final round decision to the Northwestern University School of Law, which went on to win the national championship.
Sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Association and the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the competition was held in Houston. Coaches included Gerald Powell, the Abner B. McCall Professor of Evidence; Louis Muldrow, the Leon Jaworski Professor of Practice and Procedural Law; and Kathy Serr and Rob Swanton, local attorneys.
Stephens and Beckworth finished the year with a record of 11 wins and two losses in three competitions. The team's only losses were to the teams that won first and second place at the National Trial Competition.
