Baylor Rotc Sponsors Run to Benefit Leukemia Society April 19

April 11, 1997

The Baylor University Air Force ROTC will sponsor its annual Run for Hope at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, beginning at the Harris House on the Baylor campus.
The proceeds from the run will benefit the Leukemia Society of America. The fundraising event will consist of one-mile and five-kilometer runs. The ROTC will award trophies to the top finishers in age and gender categories.
The run was established at Baylor in memory of Cadet Lisa Burmeister, a former Baylor student and ROTC member, who died of leukemia in 1993. Leukemia causes the fourth largest number of deaths in men and women in America. More than 21,000 Americans died of leukemia in 1996.
The race is open to the entire Waco community and anyone may register for $10 which provides a T-shirt.
To register for the race contact Floy Rodriguez, race coordinator, at 754-8203 after 6 p.m.
For any additional information contact Leona Cloud, public affairs officer for the ROTC, at 420-1528.
