WACO, Texas (Feb. 11, 2016) – Baylor University’s Armstrong Browning Library will present “Broadway at the Movies,” its Eighth Annual Valentine’s Day Extravaganza at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in Armstrong Browning Library.
The event will include a musical performance by artist-in-residence Carlos Colón. Colón will perform arrangements of Broadway classics in the McLean Foyer of Meditation.
Colón is a composer and cultural promoter, specializing in music that has academic significance and ecclesiastic value. His music has been performed in the United States and abroad, including performances in Carnegie Hall, Venezuela National Radio, the United Nations and at the Festival de Música Contemporánea of El Salvador.
Colón will be assisted by Kimberly Fuselier Mendoza and Christopher Michel. Both are singers from Houston and Baylor alumni. They will perform pieces from “My Fair Lady,” “Showboat,” “The Secret Garden” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” They will be accompanied by instrumentalists.
“It’s always a pleasure to host events that highlight aspects of Armstrong Browning Library – in this case, emphasizing the love story of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning – in the hope that the audience can reminisce about their own love stories during the musical portion of the program,” said Rita Patteson, director of Armstrong Browning Library.
A dessert reception will follow in Cox Reception Hall.
This event is open to the public. Armstrong Browning Library is located at 710 Speight Ave.
Tickets are $50 per couple or $30 per person, student tickets are $35 per couple and $20 per person. Tickets are available for purchase here.
