Baylor Regents Name New Dean, Reappoint Chairs

WACO, Texas -- Baylor University's Board of Regents today approved the appointment of Dr. Terry Maness as dean of the School of Business for a 3-year term.
Maness had been serving as interim dean for the past year. He was the unanimous selection of a search committee as dean.
In other action, the board:
* Named Dr. Paul R. Spickard professor of history and chairman of the Department of History;
* Reappointed Bradley J. Toben as dean of the School of Law for a 3-year term;
* Appointed to a new 3-year term Dr. Edwin P. Oxford as chairman of the Department of Mathematics;
* Appointed to a new 3-year term Dr. J. T. Rose as chairman of the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate;
* In the School of Business, reappointed Dr. James Truitt as chairman of the Department of Economics and Dr. G.W. Willis as chairman of the Department of Information Systems;
* In the College of Arts of Sciences, reappointed Dr. Manuel J. Ortuno as chairman of the Department of Modern Foreign Language and Dr. Harold W. Osborne as chairman of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work;
* In the School of Education, reappointed Dr. Robert C. Cloud as chairman of the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation;
* In the School of Music, reappointed Dr. James M. Benninghof as chairman of the Department of Academic Studies; Dr. Larry D. Vanlandingham as chairman of the Department of Instrumental Studies; and Dr. James B. Williams as chairman of the Department of Keyboard Studies.
