Memorial Carillon Recital Set in Remembrance of Sept. 11

WACO, Texas (Sept. 10, 2015) -- Baylor University Carillonneur Lynnette Geary will play a memorial recital on the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 2001. This program, presented in memory of those who perished in the assaults, will be performed on the McLane Carillon in Pat Neff Hall Tower, beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.
The recital will begin with former University Carillonneur Herbert Colvin’s arrangement of the “Doxology,” followed by the “A Somber Pavan” by Ronald Barnes and then the Roy Hamlin Johnson arrangement of a Benedictine plainsong, “Adoro Devote.”
Also to be heard are “In Memoriam—September 11, 2011” by John Courter, the Milford Myhre transcription of the anonymous “O Støre Gud” and the Herbert Colvin setting of “Amazing Grace.”
Closing the program will be an arrangement by John Courter of William Henry Monk’s “Abide with Me” and Roy Hamlin Johnson’s arrangement of the plainsong “In Paradisum.”
This memorial carillon recital by Lynnette Geary is free of charge and open to the public. Weather permitting, the public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to Founders Mall in front of Pat Neff Hall. Printed programs will be distributed just prior to the performance.
