January 6, 1997

WACO, Texas - Texas A&M University's Singing Cadets will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Jones Hall, located in the McCrary Music Building, on the Baylor University campus. The concert is sponsored by the McLennan County Aggie Moms' Club.
A variety of songs - popular music, hit tunes, spirituals, patriotic selections, novelty numbers and school songs - are included in the Singing Cadets' repertoire. The musical group is under the direction of David L. Kipp, a Baylor graduate who served as bear trainer while attending the university. Kipp is in his second year as the director of the Singing Cadets.
Texas A&M has had an all male chorus since 1894. The Singing Cadets have toured Europe, Mexico and throughout the United States. They recently performed in New York City's Carnegie Hall and Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center.
Tickets for the concert are $7.50 and can be purchased at the concert or by calling 756-3495. Proceeds from the concert will be used for scholarships.
The McLennan County Aggie Moms' Club is an organization of mothers, grandmothers or guardians of current or former A&M students. Last year, the group's fund raising efforts generated seven $500 scholarships.
