November 15, 1996

The Waco Symphony Orchestra and Ballet Austin will present the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, for one performance only at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in Waco Hall on the Baylor University campus.
Ballet Austin, under the direction of Lambros Lambrou, is one of the fastest growing ballet companies in the country. This performance will mark the third time the troupe has appeared in Waco. The Waco Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Stephen Heyde, will accompany the ballet with the memorable music of Tchaikovsky. Based on E.T. Hoffman's tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the classical ballet delights young and old alike. Approximately 60 local children who underwent auditions and rehearsals will perform in the ballet.
The Nutcracker is sponsored by M&M Mars, NationsBank, Wilkerson-Hatch and University Book Store and Spirit Shop. Tickets are $20, $15 and $10 and are available at the Waco Symphony office in St. Charles Place at Sixth Street and Austin Avenue.
