Baylor’s Mayborn Museum Complex Presents Spring in the Village

WACO, Texas (March 8, 2014) – In celebration of March as the month of Texas’ independence, Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex will offer special events and activities from 1 to 3 p.m. every day during Spring Break, March 10 through 14, in the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village.
Trey Crumpton, manager of the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village, said each day’s activities will be focused on the theme of settling in Texas.
“People are usually looking for fun things to do with their families and friends during spring break,” he said. “Our five days of activities will bring the past alive and show what it was like to be a settler in Texas in the mid-19th century.”
“We have noticed that people of all ages enjoy learning and playing together, and we know everyone will find activities that appeal to them during the week,” he said.
The schedule of activity topics is:
March 10 - Cooking
March 11 - Fabric and Dyes
March 12 - Stories and Games
March 13 - Planting the Garden
March 14 - Blacksmithing and Cattle Branding

Crumpton said that each activity or demonstration will be led by museum staff or volunteers, but “the whole point is that visitors participate in the fun.”

All activities and events are included in the price of admission, which is $6 for adults; $4 for children 18 months to 12 years; and $5 for seniors (age 65 and older) and is free to museum members and Baylor students. The Mayborn Museum Complex is at 1300 S. University Parks.
