Baylor Art Students Get Their Chance to Showcase Work

WACO, Texas (Nov. 18, 2013) - The end of the fall semester marks a culminating point for graduating Baylor art students: the BFA Senior Exhibition.
The Martin Museum of Art hosts this exhibition every semester to showcase all the best art that students have worked on throughout their time at Baylor.
"All graduating BFA students are required to participate in the exhibition as part of their capstone experience," said Karin Gilliam, director of the Martin Museum of Art. "The students must spend their last semester planning and installing their exhibition under the supervision of their major professor and with the assistance of the museum staff."
Adriana Lovejoy, whose fine arts degree is concentrated in graphic design, is looking forward to displaying her hard work.
"I have some websites I've done, some identity marks, promotional posters, package designs and executions, a defense paper over one of the designs, some 3-D renders, brochures and stationery suites," she said. "They all took various times to create, of course, but nothing was done in a day, I can say that."
"Everything they do is excellent experience for planning a future exhibition of their own after they graduate," Gilliam said.
"It's a very exciting time, but also very stressful, because we want nothing less than our best on display," Lovejoy said.
The students' work will be exhibited through Nov. 26, starting with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 on Nov. 21. in Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center at Baylor University, 60 Baylor Ave. For more information, visit www.baylor.edu/martinmuseum.
