Baylor Chapel Welcomes Fall Guests

WACO, Texas (Aug. 30, 2013) - For more than 160 years, Baylor University has provided students with the opportunity to fellowship together twice a week during chapel, the university's oldest tradition. Hosted by the Spiritual Life Center, this time is designed for musicians, speakers and other interesting guests to share their talents or wisdom with students during the semester.
The Spiritual Life staff is looking forward to a diverse group of guests this Fall.
"We have a great lineup in chapel this fall with speakers, artists, singers, story tellers and theologians," University Chaplain Dr. Burt Burleson said.
This roster of guests for this semester includes Ted Baehr, All Sons and Daughters and Ted Swartz.
Ted Baehr is an American media critic and founder and publisher of Movieguide, a website that evaluates movies and entertainment options from a conservative Christian perspective on suitability for family friendliness. Baehr has been a featured guest on Oprah, Hannity and Colmes, CNN, ABC, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and Entertainment Tonight. He will speak in chapel on Sept. 18, 2013.
All Sons and Daughters is a music duo comprised of David Leonard and Leslie Jordan, who consider it a calling to help the community of God worship together. Leonard and Jordan use a strong acoustic styling in their music and bear witness to the power of worship by the people, for the people and of the people. They will perform in chapel on Oct. 21, 2013.
Ted Swartz is a playwright, actor and leader of Ted and Company TheaterWorks, a team of dynamic actors and musicians who are passionate about creating art that provokes both laughter and thought. According to his biography , Swartz believes that the combination of humor and Biblical stories can lead to different and improved understandings of scripture. He will perform in chapel on Nov. 18, 2013.

' Richard Mouw, philosopher, scholar, and author, on Sept. 30, 2013.
' LaPrise Harris-Williams, head coach of Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling, on Oct. 2, 2013.
' Shane Claiborne, a founding member of Philadelphia, Pa., monastic community The Simple Way, on Oc. 9, 2013.
' Mary DeMuth, author and speaker on freedom and God's redemption, on Nov. 4, 2013.
' Scott Evans, Irish speaker and author with 10 years' experience in youth ministry, on Nov. 11, 2013.
Burleson hopes that students will be moved by their chapel experience.
"There are great plans in place and now that the semester is here, we simply offer that to God, trusting that the Spirit of Love will meet our students right where they are, speak to them, heal them and inspire them," Burleson said.
Chapel is held every Monday and Wednesday in Waco Hall at 9:05 a.m., 10:10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
