Baylor Engineering Programs Reaccredited

WACO, Texas (Aug. 27, 2013) - Baylor University is proud to announce that its three engineering programs--engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering--were recently reaccredited by ABET. ABET currently accredits more than 3,100 applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology programs throughout the globe.

"I am extremely pleased that our engineering programs were reaccreditation by ABET. Accreditation is particularly important for our students," said Dennis O'Neal, dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. "Graduating from an ABET accredited program is also one of the requirements for obtaining a professional license as an engineer."

First accredited in 1989, Baylor's engineering programs comprise more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students. Its more than 30 faculty members teach and conduct research across all three engineering disciplines. With more than 10 percent of Baylor University's freshman class pursuing major courses of study in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, the focus remains on preparing graduates for professional practice and responsible leadership with a Christian world view.
