WACO, Texas (March 26, 2013) - On March 28, the Martin Museum of Art will open its annual Baylor Art Student Exhibition, which will feature 85 works created by the university's students. The exhibition will run through April 17 and will be located in the museum's Gallery I & II at the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave.

Each year, a guest juror selects works of art to be showcased in the exhibition from more than 200 student entries. Jesús Moroles, an internationally renowned sculptor whose work has been displayed in more than 130 solo exhibitions and garnered him attention in such publications as The New York Times and Newsweek, will be this year's guest juror.

"Whether a student's work is accepted or not, we hope the students will see the jury process as a valuable experience that is an important part of their art education," said Karin Gilliam, director of the museum. "It also is a wonderful opportunity for our community to purchase artwork and encourage our students."

Moroles will give a lecture hall presentation titled "Creating a Sense of Place" at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Room 149 of the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. He also will present a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. March 28 in Gallery I & II of the museum. A reception and awards ceremony will be part of the event. The lecture and gallery talk are free and open to the public.
