Baylor Honors College and BIC Welcome Stanford University Scholar for Laura Blanche Endowed Memorial Lecture Series

WACO, Texas (March 20, 2013)--Baylor University's Honors College and the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) welcome Peter Berkowitz, J.D., Ph.D., Tad and Dianne Taube Senior Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, for the 19th annual Laura Blanche Jackson Endowed Memorial Lectureship in World Issues.

The lecture, "Israel and the Struggle Over the International Laws of War" will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Foyer of Meditation in Baylor's Armstrong Browning Library, 710 Speight Ave.

Berkowitz studies and writes about constitutional government, conservatism and progressivism in the United States, liberal education, national security and law and Middle East politics.
He is the author of hundreds of essays, articles and books, including "Constitutional Conservatism: Liberty, Self-Government, and Political Moderation" published by Hoover Institution Press in 2013; "Israel and the Struggle over the International Laws of War," published by Hoover Institution Press in 2012; "Virtue and the Making of Modern Liberalism," published by Princeton University Press in 1999; and "Nietzsche: The Ethics of an Immoralist," published by Harvard University Press in 1995.

Berkowitz earned a J.D. and Ph.D. in political science from Yale University, a master's in philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a bachelor's degree in English literature from Swarthmore College.

The Laura Blanche Jackson Endowed Memorial Lectureship in World Issues was created by Jackson's family and many friends in memory of her life.
