WACO, Texas (Jan. 8, 2013)--We've all heard the phrase, "Well I wasn't born yesterday!" But according to crooked businessman Harry Brock, girlfriend Billie Dawn is out of luck when it comes to brains.

Stage comedy "Born Yesterday" -filled with laughter, wit and yes, "dumb blonde" jokes- hits Baylor Theatre's stage at 7:30 p.m. on Tues. Feb. 12.

The production will run Tuesday through Friday with 7:30 p.m. performances daily; Saturday performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and a Sunday performance at 2 p.m. in the Mabee Theater of Baylor University's Hooper Shaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave.
The play by Garson Kanin follows a beautiful bombshell who receives the education of a lifetime from a private tutor hired by her twisted boyfriend. Through education, her simple world view is shattered and she discovers truth in this clever portrayal of the corrupt political establishment her boyfriend cares so much about.

"It is hard to say what the audience will love the most. It could be Katie Amis's stunning portrayal of Billie Dawn, Zack Zoda's boorish Brock, or Jimi Wallace's endearing smile as Paul," said Jessi Hampton, director of the production, referring to Baylor students starring in the performance.

"Working with the actors to create their own interpretations of well-known characters has been extremely enjoyable. I am very excited to share their work with the audience. As the director, I find pleasure in something different at every rehearsal. I can say it will be a great night of entertainment" Hampton said.

Tickets for general admission are $18 and $15 for Baylor students, faculty and staff. Call 254-710-1865 for ticket information.

The Feb. 15 performance is sold out.
