Alumni by Choice Luncheon Set for Sept. 21

September 12, 1996

The Baylor University Alumni Association will host its annual "Alumni By Choice" luncheon at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, on the fifth floor of the Cashion Academic Center.
Thirty-eight individuals will be honored as "alumni by decree rather than degree" and presented with certificates by Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr.
Merrie Beckham, herself an Alumni By Choice member, will speak about her experiences with the program. Beckham is the wife of a Baylor alumnus, and she will share how she felt as a Baylor outsider until she was made an alumna by choice.
The Alumni By Choice Program was started by the Baylor Alumni Association in 1986 to honor individuals who did not attend Baylor, but who believe in Baylor and what it stands for. These friends of the university are nominated by persons who are aware of their devotion and support of Baylor.
