WACO, Texas (Oct. 25, 2012) - An autumn celebration with activities from the late 19th century will be held at the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village in Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex, 1218 S. University Parks Drive. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.
Guests will step back in time to enjoy period activities of the 1890s, including watching blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations, listening to live music, and participating in schoolyard games. Families also will have the opportunity to take autumn-themed pictures. Barbecue will be available for purchase.
"The Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village shows what life was like at the close of the 19th century," said Trey Crumpton, the manager of the historic village. "Students and museum guests can experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a small rural community in the 1890s and try their hand at daily tasks associated with harvest time in Central Texas. We invite everyone to explore the newly revitalized village and to enjoy the great food and special activities we will have on October 27."
Regular museum admission is required for this event, costing $6 for adults, $4 for children, and $5 for seniors. Guests also will have access to the Mayborn Museum and all other exhibits. Admission is free for all museum members and Baylor University students. For more information, click here, or call 254-710-1110.
