WACO, Texas - The United States Women's Softball National Team, one of America's best hopes to bring home a gold medal this summer, will play two exhibition games at the Baylor Softball Field Monday, May 20.

Games are scheduled for 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m., and a team autograph session is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. and after the second game. Tickets are priced at $10 each, but seats are limited.

The U.S. team will play against a team comprised of local Amateur Softball Association members as well as players from local colleges.

Players from Baylor's 1995-96 team included in the exhibition are Stacey Allison, Tori Birk, Mary Hess, Lyn Hill, Kristin Mayberry-Barton, Misty Perry, Michelle Sorrels, Kathy Schoettle and Jennie Vargas.

The U.S. team is favored to win the gold medal in the sport's Olympic debut this summer. The team has not lost a World Championship or Pan Am Games contest in more than a decade and has won the last three Pan Am and World titles. The U.S. team is making a 21-city exhibition tour of the United States, culminating in a July 4 exhibition in Atlanta before the opening of the Olympics.

The Baylor softball team returned to competition in 1995-96 after an eight-year absence, finishing the season at 35-26 under head coach Paula Young.
