Outstanding Professor Awards to Be Presented May 11

Six faculty members at Baylor University will be presented with the Outstanding Professor and Teaching Award during spring commencement Saturday, May 11, at the Ferrell Special Events Center.
The recipients were nominated for the award by their respective academic units. A faculty committee then selected six nominees who were presented to President Robert B. Sloan Jr. for approval.
Each faculty member will be recognized during commencement exercises for their respective academic units beginning either at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. Each recipient also will receive $2,000.
The Tenured Professor Award for the Schools of Business, Law, and Engineering and Computer Science will be presented to Dr. Nancy Upton, assistant professor of management, The Ben H. Williams Professor of Entrepreneurship, Director of both the Institute for Family Business and the John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship.
The Tenured Professor Award for the Schools of Music, Education, and Nursing and the Library will be presented to Dr. John Van Cura, professor of vocal studies.
The Tenured Professor Award for the College of Arts and Sciences will be presented to Dr. William H. Bellinger, professor of religion.
The Non-Tenured Teaching Award will be presented to Dr. Linda Livingstone, assistant professor of management.
The Research Award for tenured or non-tenured professors will be presented to Dr. Mary Nowotny, professor and associate dean of the Nursing School; and the Creative Artist Award for tenured or non-tenured professors will be presented to Dr. Greg T. Garrett, associate professor of English.
