Bear Downs Celebrates 25th Anniversary April 11

Bear Downs, an annual bicycle race on the campus of Baylor University, will celebrate its 25th anniversary at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in front of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The race, sponsored by Student Foundation, is an annual competition open to students, faculty, and staff of Baylor. This year, 22 teams with four members each are signed up to race on the course which winds through campus, starting and finishing in front of the BDSC.
During the race, prizes will be given away to spectators attending, including a bicycle from Tailwind Cycling Center, a bicycle from Bicycles Outback, and a Kaplan course. The club, fraternity, or sorority with the most members present will receive a group party from Big Daddy's.
The first four teams finishing will get prize money. The winning team receives $500, second place receives $350, third gets $200, and fourth place receives $150.
Dr Pepper will be sold, as well as entertainment provided by the acoustic band Vertical Horizon. Sponsors include Common Grounds, Flash Photography, Papa John's Pizza, Waco Construction, Baylor Bookstore, Scruffy Murphy's, Texas Instruments, the Baylor Alumni Association, Dr Pepper, Andersen Consulting, University Book Store and Spirit Shop, Steak and Ale, Schmaltz's Sandwich Shop, Tovar Tailors, Russ Hunt, Kaplan test courses, Big Daddy's, Nystrom Lithocraft Corp., Waco Bone and Joint Clinic, La Fiesta, AT&T Wireless Services, Tailwind Cycling Center and Bicycles Outback.
