Cancer and Heart Disease Subject of Luncheon Feb. 21

February 14, 1996

Dr. Janelle Walter, associate professor of family and consumer sciences at Baylor University, will speak about cancer and heart disease at noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the White-Beckham Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The speech, titled "What You Need to Know About Antioxidants and Heart Disease," will be given during the university's Office of Health Education and Wellness Brown Bag Luncheon.
Walter will talk about research into whether or not antioxidants can really lower the risk of heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants are natural substances in fruits and vegetables that researchers believe can affect the incidence of cancer or heart disease in people.
"If you eat your fruits and vegetables, you will lower your risk of heart disease and cancer," Walter said.
