RESCHEDULED: TxDOT Reschedules Southbound Mainlane Traffic Shift to Tuesday Night, March 9

WACO, Texas (March 5, 2021) - The I-35 southbound mainlane traffic shift originally scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 9.

Here is what you can expect:

Saturday, March 6 - Wednesday, March 10

  • Southbound exit closed for MLK Blvd (Exit 335C) until 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10.

Tuesday, March 9 - Overnight from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m.

  • Alternating lanes closed on the southbound mainlanes from Forrest Street (by McLane Stadium) to 12th Street (south of campus).
  • Southbound exit closed for 17th Street (Exit 334).
  • All I-35 southbound mainlanes closed from US 84 to BUS 77 (near McLane Stadium) starting at 9 p.m.
    • Drivers will be directed to exit US 84 (Exit 338A) and can re-enter the interstate south of BUS 77.
  • All northbound mainlanes closed in short segments starting at 12th Street and moving north to BUS 77 to adjust barriers.
  • Eastbound BUS 77 also will be closed at US 84.

All southbound traffic south of BUS 77 is expected to be shifted to the newly reconstructed lanes by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10. The shift of the northbound lanes will occur at a later date.

Schedules are dependent of weather, field conditions and work progress.
