Now Mayborn Visitors Can Enjoy TWO Model Trains!

Aug. 30, 2007

All Aboard! The Mayborn Museum Complex is pleased to announce the addition of a brand new Sky Train in the Jeanes Discovery Center! The train is located on the second level of the Children's Rotunda, directly above the existing train display. With the push of a button, a Rio Grande engine pulls four train cars and a caboose on a track above your head. The four cars represent the Mayborn colors in bright yellow, red, green and blue.

The official name for the size of our new train is LGB, which is taken from the name of its German manufacturer Lehmann Gross Bahn. It is the largest size model train currently produced and is often referred to as "garden size" because they are typically set up in a back yard.

Look for the red button which will allow you to send the train off on an imaginary adventure. The young and the young-at-heart will enjoy imagining the excitement of being a train engineer!
