The trees will be specially decorated by the Czech Heritage Society of Texas, Sons of Norway, and Scandinavian Friends. Additionally, there will be a tree decorated representing Hong Kong. Click here for more information.Christmas at the Mayborn School Program!November 27th - December 20thThe entire complex will be decorated for the holidays, and children will learn about holiday customs from around the world. This special program is the perfect field trip for your Pre-K through 8th grade students. Click here for more information. All Aboard the Mayborn Express Train Exhibit!December 9-17th Due to its popularity, the Mayborn Express train exhibit has been extended to Wednesday, December 20th!The train sets will be broken down at 2:30pm on Wednesday, December 20th. Don't miss your chance to see this extraordinary exhibit! The Mayborn Museum Complex invites you to hop aboard the Mayborn Express! Eight model train sets will be on exhibit from Saturday, December 9th to Wednesday, December 20th, thanks to the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders. Operating layouts of eight scale model train sets will include elaborate scenes of bridges and trestles, cities and towns, and depict both the past and present. The models range in size from a Z scale-which is the smallest commercially available model railway at a ratio of 1:220-to a G scale, more commonly referred to as garden railways at a ratio of 1:24. The trains will run on Saturdays from 10 am - 5 pm and Sundays from 1 pm - 5 pm. 
During the week, the trains will make two trips every day-from 10:00 - 11:30 am and from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. An extended run of the trains will occur on Thursday, during which the trains will run from 12:30 - 8:00 pm. Follow the flashing signal lights to the Anding Traveling Exhibits Gallery which will lead you to the train displays. The Annual Mayborn Museum Member Appreciation Event will be held December 9th through 17th. Members receive a 20% discount on all museum store purchases. The holidays are fast approaching and this is a great opportunity to get a jump on your shopping. The museum store is the perfect place to find unique stocking stuffers and party favors that kids of all ages will enjoy. Stop in to see our new wind spinners, birdhouses, books, games, rock specimens, jewelry, gadgets, and so much more. Click here for more information. All Aboard the Mayborn Express!December 16th Please join us at the Mayborn Museum Complex for a jolly day of train-themed Christmas fun on Saturday, December 16th. Your admission includes a viewing of the "The Polar Express" movie and seeing our model train exhibit in action.Box Lunches Available Tailor your visit by choosing from two showings of "The Polar Express" in the SBC Theater. The first showing begins at 10:30 am and the second begins at 1:30 pm. Or make a full day of it by including a box lunch. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm in the upper café. Box lunches include your choice of sandwich with a drink, chips, pickle, and a festive train cookie.  Also beginning at 12:00 pm, children can assemble their very own candy trains in the mezzanine. We will have several candy train models on display for the kids see, but we will encourage them to use their own creativity. They will enjoy taking them home to add their own touch to your holiday decorations. Also, take time to visit the model train exhibit that is sure to please all ages.Ticket prices for all these activities (including the lunch and candy trains) are: •$9 for members •$14 for adult non-members •$12 for child non-members. Lunch is by reservation only and the RSVP deadline is Wednesday, December 13th. Additional Showing of "The Polar Express" MovieSunday, December 17thIn case you didn't catch "The Polar Express" on Saturday, you'll have another opportunity to bring the family on Sunday. The movie will be shown at 2:00 pm in the SBC Theater. There is no additional charge, but reservations are encouraged. Please contact Sherri Jurls at 254-710-1108 and visit our website for more information. Christmas ~ Family Fun Thursday!December 21stHow do you celebrate Christmas? Come find out how other cultures celebrate Christmas around the world. Join us in the "People of the World" room to learn about interesting traditions in France, Holland, Italy, and Switzerland. Family Fun Thursday programs offer the entire family the opportunity to experience one of our exhibits at a more in-depth level. We encourage children to participate in these interactive programs and provide lots of hands-on activities. The program starts at 6:00 pm and wraps up at 7:00 pm. Each week features a brand new topic for families to explore. Admission is $4 for children 18 months and older and $6 for adults. As always, admission is free for members.
