Mathematics Awards Over $100,000 in Scholarships

The Department of Mathematics awarded $144,440 in scholarships to 25 undergraduate students for the academic year 2008-2009. These scholarships are supported by endowed funds that are designated for students studying mathematics or mathematics education. Among the students honored are Michelle Davis, designated as the Hickey/Piziak Scholar, and Eric Bunch, the Howard L. Rolf Scholar. Other students receiving awards are Jennifer Mothersole, Robby Davis, Amanda Kana, Albert Ho, Christine Riemer, Kristen Negley, Ashley Nick, Jennifer Walter, Lianne White, Melanie Keith, Jason Atnip, Jennifer Wilson, Meaghan McNeil, Brittney Turner, Aria Mavvaji, Clinton Graham, Miran Lee, Leah Valdez, Latonia Gray, Chelsea Mitcham, Matthew Hrna, Zachari Reece, and Meredith Casas. In addition to the Hickey/Piziak and Rolf Scholarship Funds, others supporting mathematics' scholarships are the Earl, Maxine, Max, and Anita Bodine Mathematics Scholarship Fund, the John C. Lattimore Mathematics Scholarship Fund, the K. L. and Vivian Carter Mathematics Scholarship Fund, the Jerry Johnson Mathematics Scholarship Fund, the Professor Albert Boggess Mathematics Scholarship Fund, and the Ruth and Gene Royer Mathematics Scholarship Fund.
