Mathematics Outreach Programs

The Department of Mathematics at Baylor University is involved in several outreach programs in Central Texas and, in particular, in the greater Waco area. Several faculty members in the department are involved in various projects and professional development workshops with area middle school and high school teachers. Among these are:

  • The Teacher Quality Grants Program (Dr. Mary Margaret Shoaf and Dr. Tommy Bryan)
  • Gear Up Waco (Dr. Tommy Bryan, Dr. Baxter Johns, Kathy Hutchinson, and Amy Goodman)
  • Project Prime (Dr. Baxter Johns)

In addition, the department is active in Baylor's High School Summer Science Research Program, a program directed by Dr. Frank Mathis, Associate Chair in the Department of Mathematics and Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences.
