Choosing a Topic

So you can't put it off any longer and need to start this research process. You want to be clear about what your professor is asking you to do and what limits or specific requirements he or she has set, so pull out the syllabus or the assignment sheet and use the following checklists to help you choose and focus your topic.
- Review your assignment requirements
- Consider your personal interests
- Pick a theme that intrigues you from your class reading
- Discuss your ideas with your professor
- Make an appointment with a reference librarian
