Each member of the Baylor community is assigned a Bear ID for accessing various campus resources, such as electronic mail and general access computing facilities. The Bear ID is automatically assigned according to a predetermined naming convention that often uses your first and last name. For example, John Doe's Bear ID would most likely be John_Doe. In some cases, the Bear ID may contain the middle initial, middle name, or other modification to ensure that each individual has a unique Bear ID. Bear IDs are intended to be permanent for as long as the individual is a member of the Baylor community.
Most resources that require a Bear ID for access also require a password. Passwords provide a level of security against unauthorized use of resources. The Baylor network requires you to use a strong password. Strong passwords:
If your Bear ID does not work, you may need to either activate it or re-activate it. Also, as part of our continuing efforts to increase network security across the Univeristy, you will be required to change your Bear ID password at least once every 180 days. What is the difference between my Bear ID and my Baylor ID?
Your Bear ID is your Baylor University network identifier. It is the key to many network resources including email, Blackboard, and some secured University websites and web-based applications. Your Bear ID is often looks like this: Firstname_Lastname.
The Baylor University ID number is your primary numeric identifier that is used on central information systems across campus and is encoded on your ID card. Your Baylor University ID number is comprised of a nine digit number that is printed on the front of your ID card.
