Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update fixes AirBear issues
When Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), Mac users experienced difficulties connecting to the AirBear wireless network in certain areas across campus. ITS staff worked closely with Apple engineers over the past several months to investigate this issue. Mac OS X 10.5.3, a free update for current 10.5 users available from Apple, resolves the issue for all Intel-based MacBook Pro, MacBook and MacBook Air users. If you have a PowerPC-based system (G3/G4) running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) there are still a few areas on campus – most notably many classroom buildings and Starbucks and Chili's Too in the Dutton Street Parking Facility - where you will not be able to use AirBear without first downloading the Internet Connect for PowerPC application from the AirBear website. All other Apple computer users, however, can now access AirBear across campus. For instructions on how to connect your computer to AirBear, please visit the AirBear website.
