This online guide is an introduction to the resources of the papers of Jack Hightower at the Poage Library. These statements and indices describe the basic arrangement and content, and list subgroups and series of materials. In addition, a detailed printed finding aid is available at the Poage Library containing detailed descriptions of files, microfilm reel analysis, and related materials.

How To Use This Site

  1. Become familiar with the organization and topics available to archival researchers by browsing through the online statements and indices in the menu at left.
  2. Read the access restrictions and regulations for use.
  3. Contact the Archivist to discuss your project. The Archivist will be happy to assist you in locating supplemental or alternate materials to take full advantage of this extensive collection.
  4. The Poage Library website is an excellent source of online guides to research materials on Texas politics.
  5. Use the BearCat online catalog to find materials in the papers of Jack Hightower that are cataloged online. Start with the following steps:
    • Type "Jack Hightower" as a keyword and click on "Search."
    • On the page that appears, select "Modify Search" at the top of the page.
    • On the next page that appears (Advanced Keyword Search), scroll down to select Location as "Baylor Coll Political Mat" to limit your search to papers of Jack Hightower (see image below).
    • Remember, not all papers of Jack Hightower are recorded in the online catalog.
