This portion of the collection is specifically designated for media: newspapers, newspaper clippings, recorded media of various types, and publications including newsletters, articles, books, and magazines. The materials in this group span the career of Jack Hightower from 1945 to the present.

II. Personal: Boxes , linear feet

This segment of the Jack Hightower Papers includes the materials that are generally personal in nature. Whether it is biographical information, photographs, events that Jack Hightower attended, or awards he received, the materials in this group span the career of Hightower from 1926 to the present.

III. Texas Government: Boxes , linear feet

The material found within this group of the Jack Hightower Papers is in regards to the Texas Government in general and to Jack Hightower's involvement with the Texas Government in particular. Examples of topics on which information within the group pertains are the governors of the state, departments of the state, and the Texas Constitutional Convention. Information in the group also deals with Jack Hightower's time spent within the Texas Government as a member of the Texas House of Representatives, a Texas State Senator, the Assistant Texas Attorney General, and as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. This group of the Jack Hightower Papers is devoted to materials regarding the federal government that both directly involve Jack Hightower and are general in nature. Examples of materials within this group, and corresponding series, are Executive Branch, U.S. House, U.S. Senate, and General Subjects. All of the collected materials from Jack Hightower's service in the U.S. House of Representatives are included in this group. (date-date)

V. Campaigns: Boxes , linear feet

The campaign materials that the Hightower Collection contains cover all of the elections that Hightower competed in throughout his career. Stickers, posters, bumper stickers, and signs are some of the various forms of materials present within this Group. It is also important to note that a tremendous amount of Hightower campaign material is located within the Media Group, especially within the Recorded Media Series. Furthermore, campaign materials for other politicians are within the collection as well; however, much of these materials have been relocated to the Vertical Files. (date-date)

Jack Hightower is a 33rd degree Mason and has served in various positions within that order. Typically considered a clandestine organization, the correspondence section is intriguing in that it demonstrates the reality of the mundane nature of some aspects of the order.
