Photographs from Baylor's Study Abroad Photo Contest are on display in the Allbritton Foyer of Moody Memorial Library through the month of November.
The exhibit includes approximately 50 photos - five top winners, 16 honorable mention and 29 other qualifiers. More than 70 students entered the photograph contest, sponsored for the second year by the International Student and Scholars Services, said Cathleen Catlin, exchange program and study abroad advisor.
Five judges for the contest included professors of art, photo journalism and international business. The works were judged on artistic value and cross cultural content, Catlin explained. 'We hope this program is a reminder to the entire Baylor family that each year over 800 students study abroad in over 25 different countries. The contest also gives former students an outlet to express the cultural and academic setting in which they studied,' she added.
Top winners were Marion Hixson, best of show; Anna Summersett, first and third place; Josh Lawson, second place and honorable mention; and Elizabeth Bell, fourth place. Other honorable mentions went to Courtney Forsell, Jamie Westmoreland, Katie Williams, Lauren Sellers, Heather Padilla, Adrienne Ferguson, Russell Jumper, Amanda Naquin, Lauren Allaire, Michael Sitzman and Laurin Rennell.
The photographs on display were taken in Paris, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Spain, France, Scotland, Argentina and other countries visited by the Baylor students.
