Linda Gradel receives a certificate as the Libraries' Outstanding Staff member for Summer 2004 from Associate Dean Bill Hair.
Linda Gradel, library assistant in The Texas Collection, has been selected as the Libraries' Outstanding Staff Member of the summer. Linda began working in the Baylor Libraries in 1993 while completing a BA degree in sociology at Baylor. After receiving her degree in 1995, she continued to work in Moody Memorial Library in Circulation Services. In 1997 she transferred to The Texas Collection.
One of her nomination forms stated that Linda 'never turns away a library client and provides willing and friendly assistance both to students and other library users,' and ensures that they can locate the resources they need. Another nominator wrote, 'she exemplifies a true Baylor Plus staff and is dedicated to her job.'
Linda displayed outstanding qualities this past year when she assumed additional responsibilities during a period when The Texas Collection had one less staff person, often arriving 15-30 minutes early to fulfill these responsibilities. One nominator summarized Linda's special qualities as follows: 'She is a jewel that is unnoticed to the University and deserves to be recognized.' A student employee, when informed of Linda's selection, simply said, 'she deserves it.' - Ellen Brown, The Texas Collection
