Central Libraries Offer New Resources

Jan. 18, 2013

During the interim period between fall and spring semesters, the Baylor Libraries installed several new resources to enhance student productivity in the Central Libraries.

One major upgrade allows patrons to charge USB-capable devices directly from the wall. In place of 15 existing outlets in the Garden Level Study Commons of Moody Library, these new plates feature two standard power ports, as well as two USB charging ports. All four plug-ins can be used at once and the USB ports are compatible with all models of iPhone, iPad, Android and other USB-chargeable devices.

Another recent change is the addition of an office supply vending machine. Located next to existing food and beverage dispensers on the second floor of Moody, the new vending option provides a variety of school supplies for purchase. From simple necessities such as pens and pencils, to cough drops and ear bud headphones, this machine will allow students to easily purchase the supplies they need without leaving the library. The Baylor Bookstore supplied the machine and has taken responsibility for stocking it.

These newest resources came from requests and ideas provided to library officials by undergraduate and graduate students who participate on the Library/ITS Student Advisory Group.

"We take our advisory group very seriously and have implemented many great ideas that have come from this group," said Associate Dean and Director of University Libraries, Jeff Steely.
