Baylor University Libraries' resources and collections are collaboratively built and managed by several units. These units provide services from collecting, purchasing, providing access, and preserving our collections.
Who We Are
The Collection Development Unit builds, manages and assesses University Libraries' collections in conjunction with the faculties in support of research and teaching needs. Contact with the academic departments is maintained through its library consultants.
The Acquisitions Unit acquires and receives purchased materials and gifts-in-kind. They offer assistance for questions about gift giving, ordering materials, and appraisal options.
The Cataloging and Metadata Unit catalogs these materials, providing access to materials through our library online catalog and other databases. Another responsibility of this unit is to maintain accuracy of information provided by our various online catalogs and databases.
The Preservation Unit restores and mends library materials; prepares and receives materials sent for commercial binding, completes final processing of library materials for the shelves; and provides user education in preservation through presentations and annual exhibits.
