About the Collection Development Unit

The Collection Development Unit is a unit in the Resources and Collection Management Services Division. The Unit builds, manages and assesses University Libraries' collections in conjunction with the faculties in support of research and teaching needs. Contact with the academic departments is maintained through its library liaisons. Responsibilities include:

Coordinating selection of books, journals, electronic resources, and media

Coordinating library liaison and Collection Development Committee activities

Providing and developing collection development tools

Evaluating and assessing the collections

Developing collection policies

Compiling and reporting collections data for reviews and accreditations
