The W. R. Poage Legislative Library serves as a research facility that archives materials related to the political history of the United States, with an emphasis on Central Texas. The Poage Library is home to a wide assortment of collections and materials, including:
- Congressional papers of W. R. Poage, John Dowdy, O. C. Fisher, Ed Lee Gossett, Sam Hall, Jack Hightower, Marvin Leath, Tom Pickett, W.R. Smith, Alan Steelman and Hatton Sumners
- Texas legislative papers of Don Adams, Bob Bullock, Chet Edwards, Jack Hightower, Ray Kirkpatrick, Allen Place, W.R. Poage, and Byron Tunnell
- Judicial papers of Charles Barrow, Jack Hightower, Sam Johnson and Bob Thomas
- Papers of former Mayor of Waco, Mike Morrison
- John F. Kennedy assassination research materials
- Raymond Biles Editorial Cartoon Collection of approximately 30,000 items
- John and JD Dowdy Political Memorabilia Collection dating back from the mid-19th Century
- Project 9-11 Collection documenting the events and aftermath of September 11th, 2001
- Penn Jones Papers related to the 36th Infantry Division during WWII and JFK's assassination
