Libraries Student Advisory Group

The goals of this group include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing insight into the study habits of our student population
  • Communicating the types of study spaces that are most conducive to facilitating meaningful research
  • Responding to questions and surveys that deal with the perception of the libraries on campus and identifying ways to improve that perception
  • Soliciting input from their peers as to how the libraries might better serve student library needs
  • Engaging in the discovery of meaningful solutions to perceived problems
  • Working with library faculty and staff to shape the libraries into a premiere academic library of the 21st century
  • Providing much needed perspective to the process of renovating the libraries, especially in regard to furniture, decor, and optimum use of available space
  • Making sound suggestions and recommendations for improving services, resources and vision

The Associate Dean and Director of University Libraries recruits (with assistance from the Office of Student Life), appoints, and convenes the Libraries Student Advisory Group. The group shall consist of the following members:

  • Associate Dean and Director of University Libraries
  • Two graduate students recommended by the Graduate Student Association
  • Two undergraduate students classified as seniors
  • Two undergraduate students classified as juniors
  • Two undergraduate students classified as sophomores
  • Two undergraduate students classified as freshmen
  • The Internal Vice President from Student Government, ex officio
  • If needed or desired, one student from a graduate professional program
  • At-large student representatives
