Study Commons Technician

Study Commons Technician

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Assist persons authorized to use computing equipment in the Moody Study Commons
  • Assist and teach lab patrons computer applications
  • Inform patrons of university computing guidelines and policies
  • Administrate the TechPoint checkout program for patrons
  • Assist with the reservation of group presentation rooms for use by facility patrons
  • Secure the equipment and facility
  • Provide basic wireless troubleshooting
  • Perform routine maintanance of equipment such as keeping paper in printers, changing toner cartridges, troubleshooting and reporting broken machines, assisting patrons with technological questions
  • Develop more technical expertise by attending software tutorials
  • Maintain the overall condition of the Study Commons facility
  • Monitor equipment usage in the facility
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others without direct supervision
  • Perform other special tasks as assigned by the Study Commons Coordinator or other members of the Client Services staff

Requirements / Preferences:

  • Excellent customer service relations
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of the software applications used in the Study commons. Must have basic knowledge of the most commonly used applications in the facility
  • Basic knowledge of printer maintenance
  • Preferred knowledge in Web Development, Adobe Photoshop

Instructional Technology Student Assistant

Instructional Technology Student Assistant

Essential Job Functions May Include:
  • Assisting faculty with projects and questions related to computer software
  • Provide assistance to faculty for updating existing websites
  • Assist faculty with the scanning of pictures, slides, and text documents
  • Designing PowerPoint slides and presentations for faculty
  • Creating Blackboard courses and adding content
  • Some training will be provided
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements / Preferences:
  • Preferred knowledge of general technology, but not required
  • Preferred knowledge of web-editing software and basic HTML, but not required
  • Preferred familiarity with multiple platforms (Mac & Windows), but not required
  • Must have basic customer service skills

Technology Support Student Assistant

Technology Support Student Assistant

Essential Job Functions May Include:

  • Assist with the design and implementation of hardware and software configurations to be used in computing facilities
  • Perform microcomputer installations and upgrades
  • Provide webpage assistance, email and general computer support to students, staff and faculty
  • Perform research to help provide the latest technology resources to students, staff and faculty
  • Use programming knowledge to develop custom applications to be used in campus facilities
  • Some training will be provided
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements / Preferences:

  • Required knowledge of PC Operating Systems
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Required knowledge in computing troubleshooting skills
  • Required knowledge of basic web page design
  • Preferred work experience in customer service relations
  • Preferred knowledge of Mac Operating Systems
  • Preferred knowledge of Adobe Photoshop Skills
  • Preferred working experience for at least one semester in a campus computing facility
  • Preferred knowledge of general wireless networking
  • Preferred knowledge in programming: C++, PHP, ASP and Java
  • Preferred knowledge in advanced web page design
