Dr. Cain has been working in public education for 34 years. She has served in numerous roles including elementary teacher, junior high teacher, assistant elementary principal, assistant junior high principal, elementary principal, junior high principal, executive director, assistant superintendent for instruction, deputy superintendent and superintendent.

Prior to her move to Waco, Dr. Cain worked 23 years at Pearland ISD, 11 of those as superintendent. She effectively guided the fast-growing district that almost tripled in size during her tenure there. In 2009-2010, under Dr. Cain's leadership, Pearland ISD earned a coveted TEA Exemplary rating, becoming the fifth largest school district in Texas to accomplish that feat.

Cain earned an associate of science degree from Kilgore Junior College, a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and English from the University of Houston at Victoria, a master of education degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Houston at Victoria and a master of science degree in reading from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City. Her doctorate in educational leadership and cultural studies are from the University of Houston.

Arriving in Waco in March 2011, Dr. Cain hit the ground running and has been busily putting systems and people in place to ensure success in all areas.
