Female Graduate Luncheon

This year, the female faculty members at Baylor Law began a tradition of hosting a luncheon for our female graduates the week before commencement. The luncheons allow our female faculty and female graduates to engage in conversation about being a female attorney in today's work environment. The female faculty members include Dean Leah Jackson (JD '85), Bridget Fuselier (JD '88), Laura Hernandez, Jill Lens, Beth Miller (JD '85), Connie Nichols, Justice Jan Patterson, and Pat Wilson. The Spring quarter's luncheon was held on Thursday, April 25 at 1424 Bistro in downtown Waco with approximately 35 attendees.
Dallas Baylor Lawyer Network Reception
The Dallas Baylor Lawyer Network Reception took place April 11. It was sponsored by the Baylor Lawyers of Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, L.L.P.:

Wade Emmert (JD '95) was recognized at the reception as the Outstanding Dallas Baylor Lawyer. Emmert is an accomplished trial lawyer with Burford & Ryburn, a former city councilman in Cedar Hill, former chairman of the Best Southwest Partnership, and is currently chairman of the Dallas County Republican Party. Congratulations Wade!
Houston Baylor Lawyer Network Reception
The Houston Baylor Lawyer Network Reception took place on April 30. It was hosted by John Eddie Williams (JD '78) at Williams Kherkher. The attendees represented generations of Baylor Lawyers -- from those who graduated in 1961 to recent 2013 graduates. John Eddie Williams led the Baylor Lawyers in attendance in conversation about Practice Court and law school memories. Baylor Lawyers spanning 50 years of graduation share the common bond of being a Baylor Lawyer. At the reception, the Houston Baylor Lawyer Network honored Grant Cook (JD '61) of The Cook Law Firm as the Outstanding Houston Baylor Lawyer of the quarter. Cook has been a successful trial lawyer for four decades. Brandon Bundren (JD '05) shares these words about Cook: "During my time working with Grant (about three years), he not only taught me how to be a lawyer, he taught me how to be a Baylor Lawyer after leaving Waco. Grant is, and will always be, the best lawyer I have ever met. More importantly, Grant is a great person and an even better friend." Congratulations, Grant, you make us proud!

Baylor Law Alumni Reception
You are invited to join Judge Ken Starr, Dean Brad Toben, faculty members, and fellow Baylor Lawyers at the Baylor Law Alumni Reception, held in conjunction with the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting. Registration to the State Bar Annual Meeting is not required to attend the reception. We encourage you to attend one of the largest Baylor Law alumni receptions of the year. The Baylor Law Alumni Association will announce the recipient of the Young Baylor Lawyer of the Year award at the reception and will provide an annual report.
