Baylor Law School to Host Adoption Day Ceremonies Nov. 18

Nov. 17, 2011

Baylor Law School will host McLennan County's National Adoption Day beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the Kronzer Courtroom (room 127). The Honorable Gary Coley of the 74th District Court will serve as presiding judge.

This year 28 children will have their adoptions finalized. Eleven families will take part in the ceremony. Baylor Law School decided to give the day a "Kung Fu Panda" theme, "Adoptions are Awesomeness." There will be food, activities for the children and a fun afternoon for everyone involved. Baylor Law students, many who are members of the Public Interest Society, have solicited donations and assembled gift baskets, planned activities for the children and will handle logistics at the event.

National Adoption Day is a national day of celebration of adoptive families and an opportunity for courts to open their doors and finalize the adoptions of children from foster care. Since 2000, more than 35,000 children have had their adoptions finalized on National Adoption Day.
