Externships are structured to accomplish educational objectives that might not be gained in a classroom setting. An externship should enable the student to develop experiential understanding of what lawyers and judges do, provide students with an opportunity to see how analytical skills and doctrinal knowledge are used in practice, and encourage students to develop technical lawyering skills.

Students interested in participating in an externship for credit should visit with the Career Development Office and review the Externship Manual below. The CDO will assist students in completing all necessary paperwork to register for the externship.
