After Gov. Rick Perry signed a governor's warrant for the extradition of Carlton Dotson Wednesday, Maryland authorities set an extradition hearing for Dotson Thursday afternoon. A McLennan County grand jury indicted Dotson last week on a murder charge for the death of Baylor basketball player Patrick Dennehy.
The extradition hearing will be held Sept. 18 in the office of the secretary of state in Annapolis. Dotson currently is being held in Maryland, and Texas authorities will have a month to transfer him to Texas if Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich signs a rendition warrant.
An requisition application was received Tuesday by the Governor's Office from the McLennan County District Attorney. Perry signed the extradition after review by an attorney within the Governor's General Counsel Division.
