Football fans may have more to cheer about during this weekend's Super Bowl if they come to the McLane Student Life Center to watch the Giants battle the Ravens.

Sunday at 4 p.m. in the SLC, Campus Recreation and Health Education and Wellness are co-sponsoring a Super Bowl party. In the past, Baylor has planned pizza parties before the Super Bowl in the Bill Daniel Student Center, but this year Campus Recreation is extending it into an actual party full of free food and prizes.

The department will provide free pizza and drinks during the pre-game festivities to anyone who attends, but is available on a first come first serve basis. Everyone will also receive free popcorn and Dr Pepper during the game.

The staff plans on moving the large screen television from the snack bar area to the ping-pong area and filling the room with chairs.

'It's more fun to share the excitement of the game when you have people to share it with,' Shauna Greaham, a Mansfield grad student, said.

A live performance by Icthus, a gospel band, is scheduled between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

'We are holding it in the SLC because it is a great fitness environment,' Van Davis, fitness coordinator, said. 'Students will be able to attend after they workout in the gym.'

Before the game starts, a Super Bowl King and Queen will be announced. The King and Queen will get the best seats in the house and receive a trash can full of snacks to enjoy during the game.

'It's a good opportunity to get out and get a change of environment,' Emily Tackett, a Grandview senior, said. 'I'll get to hang out with friends, enjoy football in a relaxed environment and be catered to.'
