Basketball teams, fans praised
Just as with the Lady Bears' upset of No. 7 Iowa State on Jan. 24, fan support at the men's upset of No. 6 University of Kansas Monday was vital to the team's success. Congratulations to the Bears for a great game. The television images of 5,000 gold shirts and 2,000 growl towels were very impressive. The Lady Bears play their only televised home game Saturday against the University of Missouri Tigers, with whom they are vying for the top half of the standings. It would be great to see all of those gold shirts back in the stands to yell for the Lady Bears. The team deserves the support of a colorful and loud crowd. Saturday, the MU women had 10,000 at the KU game, which MU won. Thanks to all who support both Baylor basketball teams.
I would just like to personally thank all of the great fans who turned out to support the Bears as they upset Kansas. I want to personally thank all of those students who kept me from falling as I crowd-surfed to the top of the Ferrell Center, and through the mass of screaming fans on the floor after the game.
I hope this will just the beginning of students getting behind our athletics, because I think we all witnessed Monday night what a difference the crowd can make. The men's and women's basketball teams have worked very hard to provide a great deal of excitement.
Hopefully, there will be much more excitement to come at the Big 12 tournament. Come out and support the teams -- do your homework later! Thanks again for the greatest game I have ever mascoted, and for not dropping me.
